Adirondack Hermit

Blame this one on Sally Nye.  Her love of mountain man lore and new discovery of Adirondack hermits/guides brought my attention back to them.  I did this one up in preperation for teaching a class at the 2004 NEWR and he now lives with Sally and David.  Those of you that have his book(s) should recognized that this carving is very much a Jack Price style figure.  The hermit is carved from the end of a 1x1" stick of basswood which is long enough to form a handle.  When your done carving you just carve or saw him off the end of the stick.
